01 — About me

Tip-off

About me: from the court to digital

I learned to run a team long before I ran projects.

Mamady Bal taking a shot, in basketball kit
  1. From age 4

    The hardwood

I was 4 the first time I stepped onto a basketball court. Very quickly, the court became my second school, the one where you learn to play for others.

  2. Middle school to high school

    Two lives in one

Through middle school and high school, I lived two lives in one. Classes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., practice right after, an hour and a half, sometimes two, then homework in the evening. A sports-study program, an adapted school schedule, Le Mans Sarthe Basket's training academy: every season asked a little more. Departmental and regional teams, France's U15 Top 60, runner-up at the French school sports championship (UNSS). Without knowing it, I was already learning to keep a tight schedule.

  3. After high school

    High-level basketball

With my baccalaureate in hand, I joined Nationale 2, the French fourth division, where I played three seasons while continuing my studies. Point guard, sometimes captain, I organized the play and talked to my teammates. Alongside that, I coached young basketball players aged 4 to 17 and earned my coaching qualifications, to learn how to pass things on.

  4. A new direction

    From the court to digital

Then came the time to choose. I set basketball aside to focus on my studies and my future. As fate would have it, it all happened on a court again: camera in hand, I was covering a basketball tournament to produce content, and I genuinely loved it. The career paths of my retail management diploma no longer felt right. I searched, and I found my path: digital communication.

07 — Takeaways

What the court taught me

The jersey is put away, but the point guard is never far.

  • 01Making a team play together

    On the court

Point guard, and captain on some teams. My job: organize the play and move the group toward the same goal.

    At work

At Habrial, I coordinated management and the sales teams toward set objectives, and my audit started with interviews with the sales reps. For JS Coulaines, I gathered information from the club's 27 sections and coordinated the season guide with the graphic design provider.

    See: Habrial, JS Coulaines

  • 02Running several projects at once

    On the court

Classes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., an hour and a half to two hours of practice, then homework. Later, three seasons in Nationale 2 alongside my studies.

    At work

Since 2021, all my degrees have been work-study programs: school on one side, the company on the other. From 2024 to 2025, I also ran a freelance activity with Fluid IT 360, with 5 projects completed including 3 websites delivered, alongside JS Coulaines and then Habrial.

    See: Fluid IT 360, Habrial

  • 03Passing it on

    On the court

I coached young basketball players aged 4 to 17 and earned my coaching qualifications.

    At work

As a freelancer, I supported clients from gathering their needs to getting comfortable with their digital tools.
